OverDrive Read provides simple access to eBooks for students.
Schools with one device per studentIf your school is one-to-one or has a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy, students can use OverDrive Read to start reading eBooks right away on their own devices, without the need to install software or apps.
Schools where students share devicesIf your school has a computer lab or shared devices, OverDrive Read provides a digital reading option that doesn’t require Adobe IDs, registrations, or device resetting. Because no software is required, there’s no limit to the number of students who can share one computer or device. Students simply log into your digital library, borrow eBooks, and click Read to begin reading.
Multi-device supportAs long as you have an active Internet connection, your place in an OverDrive Read eBook will be saved between reading sessions. This means that a student can start reading on a school device and then continue at home on a personal device. OverDrive Read is compatible with most computers, tablets, and mobile devices running up-to-date web browsers.
Using OverDrive Read in the classroomSince OverDrive Read is browser-based, it saves valuable class time by having students read directly in their browser with one click—no activation or registration needed.
OverDrive Read also allows you to quickly pull up titles on overheads and SMART Boards (to review parts of speech or sentence structure, for example).
Easy setupUnlike other eBook formats, OverDrive Read doesn’t require downloads, activation, or registration. All you need to open an OverDrive Read eBook is a computer or mobile device with an Internet connection and an up-to-date browser. Once you’ve opened an OverDrive Read eBook, you can cache it so you can also read it offline.
